Pink Lady® apples hosted their 13th annual Crafts for Cancer event on Saturday, 13th of August 2022 at Simondium Country Lodge. Every year this event is held to raise funds for the Tygerberg Hospital’s Breast Clinic Transport Fund.

At this event, over 90+ ladies participated this year resulting in almost R 56 000 being raised for the Tygerberg Hospitals Breast Clinic Transport Fund. This means that almost 100 additional ladies will benefit from the Fund.

The Transport Fund was started for the Breast Clinic at Tygerberg Hospital in 2010. The need for this fund was identified and initiated by a dedicated social worker at the Breast Clinic, Professor Apffelstaedt and what started as a small-scale initiative to assist one patient in need , has since grown to a fully fledged fund that has helped countless women and continues to grow.

Last year the ladies in attendance enjoyed a morning learning the art of Macrame with Willene Cordier, where they made pot hangers. Jack de Priester provided the live entertainment and had everyone laughing and singing along. We even saw a few ladies pull out some dance moved. After an amazing lunch provided by Simondium Country Lodge, we had a heartfelt speech from Dr Xolani walking us through the day in the life of a breast cancer patient and thanking all the ladies that have donated to the fund

This year, our theme is high-tea! We will have a tea and chocolate pairing by the lovely Carmien Tea team as well as a live food demonstration by food consultant, Heleen Meyer. There will be delicious high-tea snacks and treats enjoyed throughout the morning.
